The California State Legislature had a busy start to July before slowing down for the latter part of the month upon summer recess, which began on July 18th. Lawmakers will return to Sacramento on August 18th to act on the bills that are still pending in each house. The first two weeks back will begin with Appropriations Committee hearings ahead of the August 29th deadline for fiscal committees to report bills. Come September 2nd, it will be floor session only until adjournment for interim recess on September 12th.
The Assembly has scheduled 5 informational committee hearings and 3 oversight committee hearings over the course of the first two weeks. Additionally, the Senate has scheduled 3 informational hearings and 2 oversight committee hearings.
